07.2 Evaluating Web Sites
What tools are available to help people evaluate web
sites?
The Internet Search Wizard contains a form devoted to the
evaluation of
web sites. Many others are available elsewhere, including checklists and worksheets
designed for younger students.
Please read these pages: 21CIF Evaluation
Form. Become familiar with the layout of the form. It will be used in
conjunction with future learning experiences.
- The text box is for typing your answers to the guiding
questions for each of the ten considerations one can make regarding any particular
web site.
- The program will save your text as you move through the
ten pages of questions.
- When you have answered all of the questions--or the questions that seem most appropriate for the information you are evaluating, clicking
on the word Summary below the 10 topic buttons will summarize the ten evaluation topics and your typed answers/comments.
- A printable version is available; this version can be
copied and pasted into a threaded Discussion board posting.
- WARNING: Once
you leave the Evaluation Form, your work will be lost. It is only held temporarily while
you work with the form, while the form window is open.
If you are already familiar with the 21CIF approaches to evaluation, you may want to consider the techniques recommended by other experts in this area. Here are a few suggestions.
