By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

* Create effective and efficient search queries by -

  • translating a natural language question into a search query
  • developing and applying vocabulary building strategies to conduct a digital information search
  • revising their search queries based on search results/feedback

* Effectively and efficiently select visible and invisible digital collections

* Select digital search tools based on their effectiveness and effiiciency

* Evaluate digital information effectively and efficiently through -

  • determining its usefulness in the search process
  • determining the reliability of its content

* Ethically use digital information through -

  • applying Fair Use Guidelines to the use of digital resources
  • identifying plagiarism in written text

* Demonstrate the dispositions necessary for successful digital information fluency including persistence, focus, open-mindedness, and curiosity when engaged in the digital information fluency process

* Demonstrate self-regulation necessary for successful digital information fluency through -

  • using meta-cognitive thinking to adjust their strategies and tools and exhibiting an attitude of adaptability to respond to inconclusive or ineffective results when engaged in the digital information fluency process
