Objectives

By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

* Create effective and efficient search queries by -

o translating a natural language question into a search query
o developing and applying vocabulary building strategies to conduct a digital information search
o revising their search queries based on search results/feedback
 

* Effectively and efficiently select visible and invisible digital collections

* Evaluate digital information effectively and efficiently through -

o determining its usefulness in the search process
o determining the reliability of its content

* Demonstrate the dispositions necessary for successful digital information fluency including persistence, focus, open-mindedness, and curiosity when engaged in the digital information fluency process

* Demonstrate self-regulation necessary for successful digital information fluency through -

o using meta-cognitive thinking to adjust their strategies and tools and exhibiting an attitude of adaptability to respond to inconclusive or ineffective results when engaged in the digital information fluency process
