Tagging in Web 2.0 applications refers to labels that individuals assign to content they create or use.

Similar to Subject Directory Browsing, tags are best used for general searching and to get ideas--similar to brainstorming. Tags may be clustered in folksonomies--a type of taxonomy that evolves from popular use (not a formal classification of terms).
