Here are our "solutions" to locating statements of bias and what it means to us. pedersondesigns -- http://pedersondesigns.com/my-biases/Using BIAS (or MY BIASES) and the Find Command we found a link to a page where John spells out his purpose. His approach to teaching emphasizes reading skills over technology skills (and in grades K-2, over science and social studies). He maintains something of a devil's advocate position: "Spend at least 5 years of your life completely denying that there is any value in educational technology." His ideas challenge some prevailing educational practices, which may be useful to ponder. weblogg-ed -- http://www.weblogg-ed.com/2005/12/04#a4354 and http://weblogg-ed.com/aboutUsing DISCLAIMER in Site Search, we found Will Richardson's statement, which suggests his blog is for trying out new ideas, which he says should be taken with a grain of salt. This is an extensive blog written by someone who has deeply integrated technology into his life. There may be worthwhile ideas here, at least many worth thinking about. Irina Filippova -- http://irinafilippova.livejournal.com/ and http://irinafilippova.livejournal.com/profileLacking a Site Search tool, we simply found Irina's "self-reflective essay" by scrolling down the page of blog posts. This essay contains biographical information and suggests that her purpose for the blog is to model what she teaches, integrating technology tools and the Internet in e-language teaching. By her admission, she's as much a learner as a teacher in this regard and uses the tools both for self-discovery and for sharing her insights. Her blog may be useful as a first-person account to see what she discovers about technology integration and what she does with it in teaching. |
