Creating Netscape Bookmarks:  Tips and Tricks

 

Just like you'd mark a section of a book for quick reference, you can record the web addresses of important Internet pages.  By creating a personal bookmarking system you make it easy to return to a page without retyping the website address.  All web browsers provide this type of tool.  Netscape uses the term "Bookmarks". 

How do I create bookmarks?

  • First navigate to a page that is worth saving. 
  • Click Bookmarks and choose Bookmark This Page.
Are there keyboard shortcuts that create Bookmarks?

Yes there are keyboard shortcuts that make it easy to bookmark a site. 

  • In Windows hit Control-d  (Hold the control key down and tap the 'd' key.)

  • On the Mac use the Command-d keys.

How do I delete obsolete bookmarks?

It is easy to accumulate a long list of bookmarks.  Periodically weed through your list and delete obsolete bookmarks. 

  • Click Bookmarks and select Manage Bookmarks.  
  • Select the bookmark you want to remove. 
    • This will highlight the bookmark. 
  • Click Delete on the command line at the top of the page.
